What if I Need Observation or to be in the Hospital?

There are times when the board certified physician wants you to stay awhile for observation. The Rice ER has a comfortable, luxurious observation suite.
In a few instances, patients may need hospitalization for more intensive treatment such as cardiac monitoring or surgery. If you need hospitalization, Rice ER has arrangements with local hospitals for a seamless transfer from the ER to the hospital. You will go directly to your hospital bed and not incur a second ER charge.

What if My Child Needs Emergency Care?

At Rice ER, we provide full-service pediatric emergency care for newborns to teenagers. The pediatric suite is specially designed to provide a place of comfort for apprehensive children of all ages.
We have extensive experience in helping children through the difficult times of injury or illness. Although not easy, we do all we can to make a child’s ER experience a positive one.

We have relationships with pediatric specialists who can provide ongoing follow-up care for your child when necessary. If your child needs hospitalization, we have strong relationships with pediatricians and pediatric hospitals throughout Houston. We ensure the transfer to the hospital is handled by trained paramedics. We coordinate with the hospital treating pediatricians so the transfer is seamless and in the best interest of your child.
